In this video I took the design of the backyard scientist's no-moving parts fire tornado and made it much bigger. The way this works is that the tube that contains the fire is offset so that the air enters in opposite directions on each side of the tube so it makes a swirling affect due to natural convection. I also used a rope so that the fire would make it all the way to the top of the tube. It worked OK, but you can't really see the swirling until the fire dies down a bit. On my second try it didn't go so well and I ended up burning the whole setup! oh-well...
