On January 14, 1983, America's most elite intelligence agency, the CIA, published a secret investigation report on India titled “INDIA IN THE MID-1980s.” In this report, the CIA shared a highly controversial piece of information: “If Indira Gandhi were to die tomorrow, there would be an EMERGENCY in her Congress party… because there is no leader left in the party who could take over after Gandhi. Her son, Rajiv Gandhi, whom Indira has been grooming for many years, has not been successful enough so far!”

This document, which was recently declassified by the CIA and publicly released, reveals that in the 1980s, the CIA kept a close watch on every weakness of India, especially on Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. How could civil disorder be spread in India? What is our military budget? Which countries are we purchasing weapons from? How soon could we develop nuclear weapons? And finally, how could Indira Gandhi’s government be toppled? The CIA even knew that the Congress party’s internal division was Indira Gandhi's biggest weakness, which could be exploited to bring about a change of government in India. But why was the US so interested in the Prime Minister of India, 13,000 km away? Was the CIA preparing for the assassination of Indira Gandhi? Well in the second video of this series, ISI will be backed by CIA.
