DIY POND SKIMMER

To make a skimmer with your own hands in a pond, you will need stones (or bricks), cement, sand, a drainage pipe, a pipe (or hose) to the pump. You can make such a coastal stationary skimmer with your own hands in a finished pond. Why you need to choose the right place for the coastal skimmer.
+++Here are the basic principles for choosing a place:
1. place the skimmer on the opposite side from the place where water is supplied to the pond
2. if your pond has an intricate shape, then place the skimmer in the far corner of the pond
3. observe the pond, notice where garbage most often accumulates and take this fact into account, but do not neglect point No. 1.
4. all other things being equal, place the skimmer in a place where it is convenient to access for maintenance (cleaning)
5. take into account the availability of the power grid
+++Then drain the water just below the bottom edge of the skimmer, lay a pipe that will connect the pump and the skimmer, dilute the solution, lay out the walls of the skimmer in the shape you like (preferably rounded) in the wall turned inward of the pond, leave a window through which water will flow into the skimmer. Then lay a drainage pipe in a filter with a diameter of 63 mm on the bottom of the skimmer. (You can use any hose or pipes after drilling 5 mm holes in them (a lot) and wrap them with geotextile). Next, fill everything with a layer of crushed stone to a level of no more than 10 cm from the edge of the intake window. Connect the pump and the skimmer is ready !!! I wish all pond keepers a clean mirror in the pond and less filamentous algae !!!
