Welcome back to The Optimal Experience! Today, we are diving deep into the BlackSpace Engine to uncover the true performance cost of premium lighting. We are testing Crimson Desert at 4K using FSR 4.1 Balanced upscaling on the absolute maximum Cinematic preset—but with a twist.
Instead of looking at general performance, we are isolating the game's heavy-hitting lighting features. With Frame Generation turned completely OFF, we put our hardware through a three-stage gauntlet looking over highly detailed water to compare:
1️⃣ Ultimate Quality: Ray Tracing ON + Ray Regeneration ON
2️⃣ Performance Balance: Ray Tracing ON + Ray Regeneration OFF
3️⃣ Maximum Fluidity: Pure Rasterized Lighting (RT & RR OFF)
Is the massive 37 FPS difference between maximum Ray Regeneration and traditional rasterized lighting actually worth the visual trade-off? Let's find out!
Let me know down in the comments which of these three lighting setups you would choose to run on your own rig. If you found this breakdown helpful, please hit that like button and make sure you are subscribed for more deep-dive technical benchmarks!
