Starting a diesel generator in the cold
Starting the Centaur #KDG283EK generator, the outside temperature was about 3-4 degrees above zero. The diesel generator started in the cold without any preheating. After starting, the engine surprisingly ran smoothly, with no RPM fluctuations and clean exhaust. The generator engine is in the break-in stage, with approximately two-thirds of the engine hours remaining before a scheduled oil change.
