Alexey explores the current military-political situation in Russia through a clear metaphor: the sleeping Russian bear. As long as no one pokes its den with a stick, it sleeps. But when it hurts, the bear wakes up, growls, bats the enemy away, and then goes back to sleep. Zhivov calls this a persistent national habit: reacting sporadically, only when it hurts, instead of restoring order in the forest.
This is especially evident in the media: on TV, everything seems fine, but in real life, people are discussing drones that have begun flying over the Ural Mountains. This is how citizens learn about reality, sometimes through shock.
Zhivov is convinced that problems begin when we decide to ignore them. Without a clear and objective picture of what's happening and a clear vision of the future, we will continue to lag behind and act as "second fiddle," reflecting on this or that pain.
