Peter T. Lyman - Peter The Rulemaker
When Peter T. Lyman retired as Deputy Director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in June of 1992, a retirement dinner and roast were held in his honor. This video is the retirement roast skit. Unfortunately, the audio was not configured correctly for recording. So captioning is added to make the dialogue clear. Also, the video is converted from a VHS tape and suffers from the conversion.
Much of the humor will be lost to those not of those days at JPL. Fred Bowen was the NASA representative to JPL. The fact that he was chosen to play Peter shows the good relationship Peter maintained with his NASA counter parts. Larry Dumas succeeded Peter as Deputy Director. Dick Laeser was, among other things, the Voyager mission manager.
