First off the plate, test press a unique Detroit/Motown historical artefact that gives up awesome Northern Soul.
Straight from from the vaults of Golden World to a collector, remaining unplayed for years. A September 1965 labelled and addressed 3246 Davison West, Detroit, Michigan 48232 test press, still housed in its file numbered heavy-duty green library birth sleeve.
This six man Detroit band's only 45 for Ed Wingate's fabled Golden World imprint. Before being reinvented 3 years later, after moving under Motown's umbrella in the Golden World buy-out in 1968. Then undergoing a name change that matched the label title, Motown had chosen for their new venture of entering the burgeoning Detroit Garage/Psyche/Rock scene. Rare Earth as they were now called, spearheading the new venture to become one of Motown's best selling groups.
All from humble beginnings as a club act and just a few 45 local releases in 1962.
Both sides written and produced by founder group member, lead vocalist drummer Peter Hoorelbeke (Pete Rivera). Who coincidently draws inspiration from the Motown-sound with rhythm similarities to more than just one Motown recording. Expertly arranged by Golden World genius Sonny Sanders, the session builds and builds on an addictive swirling keyboard "I'm Still Loving You" type rhythms, tight harmonies and subtle horns. An inviting classic style Northern Soul dancer.
Sunliners - All Alone - is top drawer Northern Soul, annoyingly elusive as the Golden World press. But as the original test press for Golden World library, it is an archive 45 of huge desirability.
The original a-side "The Swingin' Kind " reveals a blending of mid-sixties soul dance and snarling Motor City garage, giving us glimpses of why The Sunliners so seamlessly evolved into Motown's best selling psyche/rock band.

Condition Report
file no. in marker on a-side label and library green cover (see images) flipside has a blank face. Playing surfaces reveal strong gloss, near as good as it gets, presumably played for testing purposes only, just a few super-soft sleeve storage blemishes. Listen to the crisp "first off the stamper" sound quality.
