Allowing camera access on TikTok is necessary if you want to record videos directly in the app. Without granting permission, TikTok won’t be able to open your camera, and you’ll see errors whenever you try to create content. Thankfully, enabling this setting only takes a few steps.
On Android, start by finding the TikTok app icon on your home screen or app drawer. Long press the TikTok icon, then tap the small “i” button to open App Info. From there, go to “Permissions” and look for “Camera.” Select it and choose “Allow only while using the app.” This ensures TikTok can access your camera only when you’re actively recording, keeping it blocked at other times.
On iPhone, open the Settings app and scroll down until you find TikTok in the list of apps. Tap on it, then toggle on the “Camera” option. Alternatively, you can go to Settings - Privacy - Camera and enable TikTok from that menu.
You can also allow access directly in TikTok when prompted. For example, if you try to record a video without permissions enabled, TikTok will automatically ask you to grant access. Tap “Allow” when the popup appears.
By enabling this setting, you’ll be able to create, edit, and post TikTok videos smoothly. If you later want to revoke access, you can return to the same settings and disable the camera permission.
