Chris Baron, winner of the 2022 Stefan George Memorial Songwriting Competition, performs at the 37th Annual Tucson Folk Festival on April 2, 2022 at the Jácome Plaza Stage.
Chris Baron hails from the Pacific Northwest. When he picks his favs, he always pick ‘the quirky song’ on an album. But it has to have a certain prettiness. For his original songs, Baron likes surprises and subtle messages. He is excited by the different compositional choices a songwriter makes between a recorded album, and a live performance. Lately he writes most of his songs to be performed. He says, “I’m pretty sure that travel is the great leveler, and the best factor is the X.”
The 37th Annual Tucson Folk Festival is Arizona's largest free to the public music festival. This annual family-friendly festival is held in some of the most historic sections of Downtown Tucson and celebrates Americana and Folk Music traditions and all the wonderful variations, including bluegrass, blues, country, jazz, Celtic, zydeco, and various styles of Latin and Mexican music! Presented by the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association (TKMA) and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA).
