Note: This is the process if you are using Google Chrome, Google provides offline access in other browsers through Google Gears

1. Navigate to Calendar
Log into gmail, click Calendar at top of page
Or go to http://calendar.google.com

2. Offline Activation
In Calendar, go to top right and click on the gear icon
Click the option "Offline"
Install application from web store
Now you have the Offline Calendar Chrome Extension installed. (Note: To make sure your Calendar is syncing offline, click mail option socket and make sure green icon is next to offline in drop down menu)

3. Troubleshooting
Offline Calendar will not work if your browser is set to clear cookies every time it is closed
To change this (in Chrome), click on wrench at top right of the page, then scroll down to "Options" (it may be labeled "Preferences" for some of you)
From the "Options" (or "Preferences") window, follow these steps:

→ Under the Hood → Content Settings → Uncheck "Clear Cookies and other site and plug-in data when I close my browser"
