Using Resolve Speed Editor with Premiere Banks
This is my first update to my video on using the Resolve Speed Editor with Premiere Pro. This is now possible thanks to CommandPost for Mac! My biggest disappointment during my initial test was that the Jog wheel timed out and I couldn't use it. Now it works! The trick is using "Banks" to reset the status and unlock the full potential of the Speed Editor keyboard.
My first video was extremely advanced, but it might be confusing for new users who don't want to have custom keycaps made--or use my settings. So I took out one of my unmodified Speed Editors and I'm showing how to customize the keys with CommandPost from an empty slate.
Most people buy a custom keyboard, but struggle to do things like long press or map a key to change layers when holding. This is where CommandPost shines. It allows long press, bank (layer) switching, and even toggle on hold functions. The possibilities are endless. Not only does CommandPost work with Premiere, but it works for all apps. Lightroom, Final Cut X, Quicktime, etc. It is truly the perfect tool to let users customize the Speed Editor and take advantage of insane customization.
Although I love the Speed Editor, its functionality with the edit page on Resolve leaves a lot to be desired. I like Resolve better than Premiere Pro, but I wanted to speed up my editing workflow so I decided to dive into the world of customization. I hope that DaVinci will allow full customization in the future. Maybe if a ton of Premiere editors start to use the Speed Editor, DaVinci will finally give us the customization we need. *This is Mac only right now. It required the user to download and install CommandPost to use and it has only been tested on Premiere Pro 2024. Ironically, it does not work with Resolve.
