This segment of Tat-Stories comes to you from the Golden State Tattoo Convention in Pasadena, thanks to the organizers and Nikko for their hospitality.
Our first interview is with Hilary, the wife of great tattoo artist and she told us her husband had love at first hip. She's got an epic owl piece on her hip and down her leg that she tells us is the piece her husband was doing on her when he decided he loved her. We just want to know if it was during or after the line work. From love at first ink to some song lyrics by the Eurythmics - Hillary has great tattoos. Our favorite is her only have eyes for you piece - kinda sappy we know but it's so damn romantic. Hilary let us know she earned numbing credits which she used for the ink on her knee. The rest is not numbed. She's got empty spots and she wants husband Martin to fill them all, and she closed it out by telling us she is her husband's ink billboard.
Our second interview is with the man, the myth, the legend - OG Libra - tattoo artist extroaainair. Seth from Hustlebutter brought our guy out to blast some ink. This dude operated on Waikiki - nuff said. This bad ass tattooed his own hip at 13 - hid it from mom and dad. By the time we was 14 he was tattooing his friends - a child prodigy was born. OG let us know that mom is finally getting used to the fact that he has tattoos. We absolutely thought the portrait of OG's fits sone on his chest was dope as hell. Dude's got Mr. Daydreamer tattooed across the back of his head - awesome or what? OG let us know that he started out doing a bunch of punk rock tattoos but he's really starting to get into doing everything from Japanese to photo realism and everything in between. OG let's us know it's a challenge to separate the pain sensation when you are tattooing yourself - he's given himself an entire sleeve so he KNOWS!
