24/7 Twitch Reruns Are Shameless (VALORANT !Drops)
You’ve most likely seen, or heard of Riot’s new, widely-anticipated FPS VALORANT. The closed beta for the new title started a few weeks ago, and by now you probably know the only way to get into the beta is by watching Twitch streams. Now, all this sounds like a good tactic on paper, at least it was at the beginning. As hundreds of thousands of people came to twitch to watch their favorite streamers for their chance at a drop, everything seemed to going smoothly and as intended. But as the bots began rolling in things took a turn for the worse as streamers decided to get greedy.
Let’s use the streamer anomaly as a prime example of what I am referring to. known for his CSGO content, anomaly would average about 1 to 2,000 viewers on a regular day, but it didn’t take long for him to switch to a 24/7 style of approach to his VALORANT stream. And by 24/7 we mean literally showing reruns of him playing valorant as thousands of bot sit in his channel inactively for their chance to get a drop. His viewership spiked to insane proportions averaging 100,000 viewers at any given point. For multiple days, anomaly streamed over 300 hours of suppose-ed VOD highlights. But sadly anomaly wasn’t the first, and certainly not the last, dozens of other streams began doing the same thing, playing literal reruns around the clock all while farming viewership, and Ad revenue for doing absolutely nothing.
Man, streaming must be such a tall task, I really feel bad for these streamers, imagine having to actually stream live on a streaming website like Twitch. And Twitch being the double-standard, hypocritical company that they are, really didn’t do anything to stop or deter this, if you need an example of Twitch’s incompetence, check out my video on the daily twitch impersonators/scammers in the CSGO section.
While these streams have died down, probably due to public backlash, you can still see multiple 24/7 rerun streams in the VALORANT section right now. It’s a lazy, shameless and really shows the true color of these “”content creators. If your favorite streamers do this, I would take a good look at who you are supporting in this case.
