Hypothesis testing is an inferential statistical method that uses sample data to evaluate assumptions about a population parameter. It is a technique with five steps that allows us to make an inference (i.e., educated guess) whether the mean of the sample we tested represents the mean of the population from which the sample was drawn. The null hypothesis assumes that any difference between the means is due to chance (error)
