The course also talks about some of the fundamental concepts on the AS/400 such as objects, libraries, library lists, messages that will give the learner a better understanding of how the system works. This course focuses on two of the most fundamental concepts in AS/400 – Objects and Libraries. It will enable the learner to understand how the object exists as a distinct entity, as well as various attributes that can be associated with it, the naming conventions, and the AS/400 commands that can be used to work with these objects. The learner is also introduced to the concept of libraries, how libraries function, commands that can be used to work with libraries and also the significance of a ‘library list’ and how to manipulate these lists. This course also discusses ‘jobs’ – the basic unit of AS/400 functioning. It takes the learner through the intricacies of jobs and subsystems and how to perform tasks through the effective use of a hierarchy of ‘Menus’ and also looks at the Help facilities. The course also touches upon the help facility available on the AS/400. The lesson on OS/400 Commands and CL/400 Programs explores the basics of CL commands and programming using CL/400.
