He is a brilliant chess player and theorist, a historian of this world's oldest game, a translator, an international arbiter, and a journalist. He is the author of over 30 books. He was the brilliant editor for many years of the magazine "Chess in the USSR." And simply a wonderful person! In the summer of 2020, he suffered a severe case of COVID-19 and managed to overcome it.
