Born during the pandemic, against the backdrop of rising anti-Asian violence and the "Stop Asian Hate" movement, the Asian American Center at UNC Chapel Hill is a beacon of hope for Asian American students at the nation's oldest public university. Providing education, support and advocacy for AAPI students and the whole college community, the Center came about through an unprecedented fundraising campaign, executed in record time. This is the story of how the University of North Carolina built its first Asian American Center, and the students, faculty and administrators who made it possible.
