Unity Android Game Prototype — Motion Controls & Custom Physics
A personal Unity prototype I created to expand my game development skills, mobile & Android deployment, motion controls, and C# programming.
The prototype features a snowboarder controlled using an Android device’s tilt controls. To better understand Unity’s physics and asset systems, I developed a custom approach for keeping the character aligned to the terrain using an invisible navigation mesh and raycasting, with collision volumes used to detect airborne states.
The project also gave me an opportunity to explore Unity’s rendering, lighting, shadows, while learning how to build and deploy a playable prototype to Android.
Although the project was ultimately set aside, it accomplished its primary goal: giving me hands-on experience learning Unity, C#, mobile development, motion-based controls, custom gameplay systems, and technical prototyping.
