Episode 2 of Expeditions: Viking and we are faced with a challenge from Asleifr, one of your distant cousins. He is challenging you to become thegn himself. Your first action to take is to ask Astridr for her advice.

She sends you to meet three of the clans most respected people: Hulga the old witch in the bog, Kveldulfr the smith for better equipment by giving you a cured armour that has 36 melee damage reduction and 20 ranged damaged reduction albeit having -1 movement, and the huntress Sigridr to help set-up a trap.
We go out and meet these three people in the village and each agreed to help us in their own ways although Hulga was having a demented episode so her assistant Roskva the Black helped us out anyway.
As challenge day comes, Asleifr arrives in his boat with two other men in Holmgang Island. The poison that Roskva the Black gave him was at work as he is in a weakened state (which he will admit later after defeat).
The trap setup by Sigridr and Ljotr is in the best spot as Asleifr falls for it on his first step towards you. This leaves him unable to move and attack for two turns.
Last but not least is when he was able to reach you and swing his sword towards you, the cured armour that Kveldulfr gave you diminished some of the damage Asleifr inflicted.
In the end, you were able to defeat him after he tried three times. He accepts his defeat and swore his loyalty to you by serving you and becoming a part of your hird.
Asleifr is a fierce defender who is very able with a sword and a shield. Use him as a front liner for your battles ahead.
Last thing on our list was to deal with Erlingr Thorgislsson and his family. Erlingr is the father of the Ottarr Erlingsson (watch him challenge you here: • Expeditions Viking | Gameplay | Walkthroug... )
We were very kind to him and his family by deciding to banish him while his family serves the clan instead of them being killed for treachery.
