When working in 3D or AR, it's invaluable to know where to find quality assets. In this lesson, we take a look at how quickly you can pull materials from Substance Source into Substance Painter. It's a huge time-saver!
Tri-Planar Projection
Normally, textures get applied to an object's UVs. This means that any stretching or shearing in the UV unwrap will be visible in the final object. What tri-planar projection does, then, is ignore the UVs for a moment and projects a material or texture along each axis - x, y, and z. Then it blends the areas that aren't especially oriented along one of those axes. This is a great way to reduce distortion in your materials.
