. Labeled line principle is a hypothesis to explain how different nerves, all of which use the same physiological principles in transmitting impulses along their axons, can generate different sensations.
In this video, Dr. Mobeen Syed discusses the labeled line principle. It states that one nerve fiber carries only one sensation, impulse conduction is the same, and the sensory receiver determines the response.
Every receptor has one attached nerve.
One nerve can have multiple receptors attached to it. The receptors are of the same kind (for the same sensation).
One nerve always takes one type of sensation.
The brain associates a specific modality with a signal coming from a specific-receptor. For example, photoreceptors detect light.
