Episode 5 of 3D Printing with the Monoprice Maker Select V2 is all about improving the cooling setup for the Monoprice Maker Select V2 by installed an after marketing cooling solution, in this case the Dii Cooler kit. This kit features a larger than stock blower style fan and the hardware to mount it. There is also a very cleverly designed new shroud that accompanies this mod, one that we will print in this episode.
The advantage of this setup is the 360 degrees of cooling which allows the filament to be cooled evenly no matter which direction the filament is being extruded. The blower style fan and shroud design also means that most of the air being blown in by the fan actually will contact the nozzle. This is a stark contrast to the stock solution where only some of the air flow gets to the nozzle and then only from one direction.
After installing this mod we can see just how well it works by creating another benchy and comparing it to the other two we have already printed this series.
