Today I take a look at the BIS respawn function built into ARMA 3 and how to incorporate it into your missions. In the example I setup a mission containing three playable units, and three respawn locations which will be used to randomize the respawn location.
Setup a multiplayer mission as desired and place down markers for the respawn locations you desire (placing more markers will increase randomization between them).
Name the markers as respawn_west for western units, (or for other factions use respawn_east for eastern, respawn_guerrila for independent, respawn_civilian for civilian.)
Inside your missions description.ext file include the chosen respawn type and respawn delay commands: (mission example below)
respawn = "BASE";
respawnDelay = 3;
Save your mission and it will have respawn setup as dictated by the respawn type and time values as well as respawn locations that have been setup by the marker locations.
