Want to customize your app icons on your iPhone home screen, but not sure how? Watch this video to learn how to hange your app icons on iPhone. #iphonetutorial

You can customize your app icons using built-in tools and options in iOS, or set up your own custom app icons using the Shortcuts app. You can use photos from your camera roll, or download icons with a style you like from websites like flaticon.com or icons8.com. We’ll have these linked in the description box.

To edit the look of your app icons using the built-in options in iOS, hold your finger down in the empty space on your home screen, and tap Edit in the top left corner. Then select Customize to get options to change the style of your app icons. In the menu at the bottom, you can choose to have small or large app icons. The small option is the default size we’re used to. The large one makes app icons and widgets a little larger and removes their labels. This gives a really nice clean look with a bit less space between icons.

Another way to edit your app icons is to choose between light and dark styles, or choose automatic to have your app icons switch between light and dark depending on the light/dark setting of your device as a whole. You can tap the sun icon on the left to make your wallpaper dark or light separately from your app icons. If you select Tinted, you can add a coloured tint to your app icons to make them more cohesive. Use the coloured sliders at the bottom to choose the tint colour. You can tap the dropper icon to select a colour from your wallpaper to use as the tint. The style settings will apply to all pages of your home screen. Tap outside of the menu to exit customization mode.

If you want to add completely custom icons for your apps, first open the Shortcuts app. If you don’t see this in your app library, you can re-download it for free from the app store. Tap the plus sign in the top right corner to create a new shortcut. Tap New Shortcut, then select Rename. Type in what you’d like to name this shortcut. I’ll be using the name of the app I want this shortcut to open. Tap Done to save. Then tap Open App. Tap App. Then select the app you want this shortcut to open. Tap the info button at the bottom, then select Add to Home Screen. You can create an icon here using the provided options, or tap the photo option and import a photo or file from your device to use as the icon for this shortcut. Adjust the crop of your icon, then tap Choose. Tap Add to add this shortcut to your home screen. Your new app shortcut will then be set up. You can then go ahead and remove the original app icon from your home screen, but be sure not to fully delete the app so your shortcut still works. Repeat this process to create shortcuts for any other apps you want to add custom home screen icons for.
