Checking AC Voltage:
Set the multimeter to AC voltage mode. This is typically represented by a "~" symbol on the dial.
Select an appropriate voltage range that is higher than the expected AC voltage level.
Connect the red test lead to the "VΩ" or "V" socket of the multimeter, and connect the black test lead to the common (COM) socket.
Place the test leads across the points where you want to measure the AC voltage.
Read the voltage value displayed on the multimeter screen.
Checking DC Voltage:
Set the multimeter to DC voltage mode. This is usually represented by a "V-" or a straight line with dashes above it on the dial.
Select an appropriate voltage range that is higher than the expected DC voltage level.
