Here it is - warts 'n' all - a fab time was had by one & all as one-time Sydney alt country pioneers The Parwills rose from the ashes after 16 years, to reunite without a net & only a very quick understaffed morning run through, for a very special, one-night-only reunion show at the Petersham Bowling Club on Friday, 2 November 2012.
About THE PARWILLS
It's roughly 20 years since The Parwills - formed out of a fortuitous meeting between front man Mark Lucas and fiddler Kelli Cooper-Durant somewhere on South King Street, Newtown -- started out as an eclectic acoustic duo playing venues as diverse as Sando, Redfern's Norfolk Hotel and Tamworth's Peel Street -- supporting everyone from The Whitlams to The Stepfords.
Within a couple of years and with a few more cowpokes on board, the 6-piece Parwills were a honky tonkin', roots wranglin' alt country/cow-punk band of misfits who blazed a critical trail with the release of their debut album Bootheels of Desire.
The band:
Mark Lucas -- vocals, guitars, mandolin
Kelli Cooper-Durant -- fiddle
Vicki Allan -- guitar
Glenn Skarratt -- lead guitar, vocals
Johnny Jessup -- drums
Phil Skelton- drums
Doug Faulkner - bass
Missing in action:
Bronwyn Stephens - bass who had the double whammy of a broken wrist & a prior engagement &
Jamie Cahill - drums (boy, we got through those drummers) who we couldn't locate.
Dee Corban - original bass player last seen delivering mail.
Peter Mullany - steel guitar & up the coast someplace.
