China 2025 Auto Sales Set to Surpass 34 Million, Including 6.8 Million Exports

That's a 24% jump in New Energy Vehicle sales compared to last year.
Auto exports are also booming, with over 6.8 million vehicles projected to be shipped overseas this year — nearly a 16% increase. So far, between January and October, China has already exported 5.6 million vehicles, including almost 2 million New Energy Vehicles, more than double what was exported last year.
However, growth might cool in the final weeks of the year. A few key government subsidies and tax breaks are set to expire, including the current exemption from the vehicle purchase tax on new energy models. Starting in 2026, buyers will have to pay a 5% purchase tax — half the standard rate — which is already pushing automakers like BYD and Nio to rush orders before the new costs hit.
