A swarm trap is a small hive made of plywood, fiberboard, or thin planks, holding 4-5 frames. Swarms nest best in traps set on old linden, oak, and pine trees. Bees prefer these trees. Honey plants such as buckthorn, raspberry, linden, and forest grasses should be located near the trap tree. Water is also important. It should be available (a puddle, stream, or small lake) no more than half a kilometer away.

The trap is best placed at a height of 3-4 meters. However, let's face it, such traps are often destroyed or even stolen. Therefore, they should be placed high and hidden from view. To ensure better swarming, traps should be made using bait recipes from old beekeepers who used logs to catch bees.
