Extrication Training 2023
Assistant, Lincoln county volunteer fire chief, and Flintville Volunteer Fire Rescue Captain, Crethton Caldwell recently conducted a twenty-four hour vehicle-rescue extrication course for local volunteer firefighters.
Extrication skills are often called upon in response to automobile accidents, when victims trapped inside the damaged vehicles may be seriously injured Volunteer Fire Departments respond to many motor vehicle accidents, and we have to be ready for whatever they are faced with, Chief Caldwell said.
The course culminated in a “colossal collision” scenario where groups of 8 to 10 students tackled an unusually challenging scene. Lincoln County volunteer firefighters train regularly to ensure they’re proficient in the variety of accidents we face, Caldwell said. "Whether that’s stabilizing a vehicle on its side, popping a door or rolling a dash, our emergency personnel take pride in working quickly and professionally."
The class portion of the training was held at the Flintville fire department and the practical were done at Stovall’s body shop who donated the cars that was used in the extrication scenarios.
