In this lesson, we are going to have a look at some different meanings for phrasal verbs with give.
0:12 GIVE BACK
Give back means to return something.
For example
Emma gave back the money she borrowed from the bank.

Give off means to produce something, usually a gas, heat or a smell.
For example
The skunk gave off a bad smell.

Give out means to fail or stop working.
for example
The old car gave out and stopped.

Give out also means to distribute something.
For example
The store gave out free samples

Give up means to quit.
For example
After becoming pregnant, Sue gave up smoking

Give way means to collapse or break.
For example
