In Christopher Nolan's biographical historical drama Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy plays an American scientist who develops the first atomic bomb—with momentous consequences. J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) is a theoretical physicist and, like his wife, biologist Kitty (Emily Blunt), a scientist through and through. As director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, he develops an unprecedentedly dangerous weapon as part of the Manhattan Project: the atomic bomb.
Men like General Leslie Groves J. (Matt Damon) and Lewis Strauss (Robert Downey Jr.) of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission look over his shoulder. But does Oppenheimer risk the destruction of the Earth with his invention, or does he deliver his work to save the world from itself?
