Along the way, Jim meets a cast of memorable characters including the infamous pirate Long John Silver.

The story begins when an old sea captain named Billy Bones arrives at the Admiral Benbow Inn where Jim lives with his mother. Billy Bones stays at the inn and tells Jim stories about his past adventures as a pirate. One day, a group of pirates led by Blind Pew comes to the inn and gives Billy Bones a black spot, a sign that he must leave immediately or face the consequences.

Before leaving, Billy Bones gives Jim a map to a treasure on an island and warns him to be careful of a man with one leg. Soon after, Billy Bones dies and the pirates come back to the inn to search for the map. Jim and his mother flee, but the pirates catch up with them and set fire to the inn. Jim manages to escape and takes the map with him.

Jim takes the map to a local squire who puts together a crew and sets sail to find the treasure. Among the crew is Long John Silver, a charismatic and cunning pirate who is secretly plotting to take the treasure for himself. As they sail to the island, Jim overhears Long John Silver and his crew discussing their plans and realizes that they are all pirates.

When they arrive at the island, the crew mutinies and takes control of the ship, leaving Jim, the squire, and a few loyal sailors stranded on the island. With the help of a marooned sailor named Ben Gunn, Jim is able to find the treasure and escape the island. However, he must still face off against Long John Silver and his crew who are waiting for them on the ship.

In a thrilling climax, Jim and his friends are able to outsmart the pirates and escape with the treasure. They return to England where Jim becomes a wealthy young man and Long John Silver escapes with his life, but without the treasure.
