Does the United States Actually Have a Two Party System?
The constant dysfunction in Washington in recent years despite "unified control of government" doesn't mesh the two party system we assume governs US politics. Instead, I propose a 4 party system grouped into two coalitions to help better explain the constant infighting and legislative gridlock that has become a consistent theme of American politics.
