This beetle has no neck. The crane that attaches to the abdomen actually consists of a sternum and a head that has stretched out so much that it has turned into a rostrum. The giraffe beetle lives in the forests of Madagascar. During the mating season, males hit each other with rostrums, and after the winner has sex with the female, she lays one egg in a leaf she has personally rolled up. Then she gnaws through the stem of the leaf and it falls to the ground. The male guards her and provides moral support. During her life, the female rolls about thirty cradles. The caterpillar hatched from the egg will eat its cradle. And then he will lead the ordinary life of an extraordinary giraffe beetle.
