✔ The IF function in Excel is part of the Logical functions group and allows us to evaluate a condition to determine whether it is true or false. The IF function is very helpful in making decisions based on the result obtained in a logical test. In this video, we will talk about the IF function to evaluate whether a student passed or failed an exam. We will use a basic example of the IF function in Excel.
✔ SYNTAX OF THE IF FUNCTION IN EXCEL 2019:
=IF(logical_test;value_if_true;value_if_false))
WHERE:
Logical_test (required): Logical expression that will be evaluated to determine whether the result is TRUE or FALSE.
Value_if_true (optional): The value to be returned if the result of the Logical_test is TRUE.
Value_if_false (optional): The value to be returned if the result of the test is FALSE.

✔ The Logical Test can be an expression that uses any logical operator or it can also be an Excel function that returns TRUE or FALSE.

✔ The Value_if_true and Value_if_false arguments can be text strings, numbers, references to another cell, or even another Excel function that will be executed based on the result of the Logical Test.
