AWS Lambda now allows users to replace the default Java object serialization library with a custom serializer, supported in all current Lambda managed runtimes and container base images for Java. This feature helps adapt Lambda functions to incoming event formats that don't match the default serializer, such as mapping non-camel case properties to camel-cased fields in Java objects.
