Daniel's Fast or how to pray correctly?
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was made to Daniel, who was called by the name of Belshazzar. And the revelation was true and of great power. He understood the revelation and comprehended the vision. In those days, I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I did not eat any good bread, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I anoint myself with ointment until the three weeks were completed. And on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was by the bank of the great river Tigris. I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, and his loins girded with gold from Uphaz. His flesh was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his hands and his feet like the appearance of polished brass, and the sound of his speech like the voice of a multitude. And I alone, Daniel, saw the vision, and the men with me did not see the vision; but great fear fell upon them, and they fled to hide. And I was left alone and looked at the great vision, but there was no strength left in me, and the appearance of my face was greatly altered, and there was no courage left in me. And I heard the voice of his words; and as soon as I heard the voice of his words, I fell on my face in a daze, and lay with my face to the ground. And behold, a hand touched me and set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said to me, “Daniel, thou ardent man, consider the words that I speak to thee, and stand upright on thy feet, for to thee I have been sent this day.” When he spoke these words to me, I stood up trembling. But he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel; "From the first day that you prepared your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I would have come according to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days. Then, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there with the kings of Persia. But now I have come to tell you what will happen to your people in the latter times, for the vision refers to many days to come" (Daniel 10:1-14).
