Testing the new Chinese open-source Kimi K2.6 AI model (DHH's favorite) to vibe code a habit tracker. Results were mixed but it eventually worked.
I wanted to see what the hype was about after DHH kept praising Kimi, so I decided to build a real project: a full-stack habit tracker using Go backend, Astro framework, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
Tools used: Kimi K2.6 via OpenRouter, OpenCode editor, Go, Astro, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS.
Verdict: So-so for now, but promising. Will try again.
