Short description: This document provides a general introduction to development of the second generation of Eurocode 5, the publication schedule, the current status as well as future technical work. This paper offers colleagues from abroad and Europeans not familiar with standardisation an overview of the work and the final documents i.a. expected contents. In addition, an outlook is provided to the interface between product standards and design codes with respect to needed properties for Eurocode design. Hence, it serves as an information paper for further coordination and cooperation with engineers and code writers globally.
