German Economy Minister Robert Habeck acknowledges that nuclear plants whose closure he enforced could've kept running. That closing them was a political, not technical, decision.
As German industrial companies continue to place new factories outside of the country, several of these nuclear plants sit ready to return to operation.
During the worst days of the energy crisis, Habeck and his officials claimed the plants couldn't be continued.
It is helpful to have Habeck's explicit confirmation ahead of the parliamentary committee of inquiry looking into the decision to continue nuclear closures despite the low of Russian pipeline gas, which seriously damaged German industrial competitiveness.
