Gone Too Soon: The Mystery of Derek Draper's Farewell
THE DEATH OF DEREK DRAPER
Kate Garraway, the host of GOODMORNING BRITAIN and a famous journalist bid a farewell to her husband Derek Draper along with her children on 2nd February, 2024.
Derek draper who you might know as a political lobbyist and psychotherapist tragically passed away on 5th of January,2024 at the age of 56 after suffering various health problems and cardiac arrest since when he contracted Covid19 in March 2020.
This heartbreaking news was announced by his wife Kate Garraway whom he married in 2005. She posted on her Instagram about the death scenario of his husband that said;
“I’m said to tell you all that my husband Derek has passed away. As some of you may know he had been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which because of the damage inflicted by Covid in march 2020, led to further complications”
Derek spent 13 months in hospital after falling into coma and being put on ventilator in 2020 when he got infected by Covid19. He still had been admitted many times after being discharged in 2021.
Derek draper was said to be one of the longest-suffering Covid patient of UK and his biggest support throughout these conditions was his wife Kate Garraway.
Kate made 2 documentaries about the details of his husband’s condition and sharing about her struggles in these 3 years. Kate was a very strong and loyal woman who adhered by his husband and took care of him for 3 years. She was with him even at his last moments holding his husband’s hands. She wrote that;
“I was by his side holding his hands throughout the last long hours and when he passed”
Derek was so loved and surrounded by his entire family at this difficult time. He once cried after receiving loving cards from his children Darcy (17) & Billy (14).
Derek draper’s coffin was arrived at St Mary the Virgin Church in Primrose Hill in North London. His wife Kate along with 2 children were seen greeting other people at church. Elton John, Tony Blair & Richard Madeley were also seen at the church.
