Here is an outline of the steps used in this video to make a clipping path in Adobe Illustrator:
1. Create a new Path for the image in Adobe Photoshop (see video how to outline an image: • How to outline an image the right way in A... ) Note: the path should outline the object you want to isolate
2. Select top menu File, Export, Paths to Illustrator option to export your path to an Adobe Illustrator file format
3. Open your image in Adobe Illustrator (tiff or JPG are preferred formats)
4. Open your exported Adobe Illustrator path file
5. Copy the path from the path file into the image file (Edit, Paste in Place from top menu)
6. Select both the image and the path on top of your image
7. Select top menu: Object, Clipping Mask, Make (command + 7 on a Mac)
That’s it, you’ve added a clipping mask to your image in Adobe Illustrator.
