As I mentioned I would, here we are with Skarner in the jungle to round out the week. The consensus for the character is that he is a bit overtuned, but this is leading into the problem of mobility creep for League and Riot should probably come up with a solution for that before characters like this are required to keep up with everyone who has a blink, jump, or dash.
As for the game at hand, I'm not really a fan of Riven, much at all, let alone in the jungle. While she is extremely mobile, her specialty lies in dueling and not really anything the jungle has to offer. Due to the mobility Zed has, he is pretty safe from her, and Thresh can save our immobile allies like Kayle and Cait. Despite the enemy team all having ways to elude me, in the event I catch up to them, I provide more than enough lockdown for the kill, despite whatever Riven wishes to attempt.
As for the solo lanes, there is a reason Runeglaive Ez isn't played anymore, which is basically what you see here in the mid lane. Ez does have a bit of a poke advantage on Zed early, but once level 6 comes around, Zed can equalize things if he's not too far behind. As for top, I'm not sure how Kayle beat Fizz so soundly, but I imagine is probably revolved around the Righteous Fury skill rather than anything else. To be honest, I really would have liked to see this lane played out.
As for the team fights, the enemy should have the advantage here as Chum the Waters can combo with Last Breath while both Wind Slash and True Shot Barrage can pierce multiple targets. Any survivors should be easily picked off by Corki in the aftermath. On our side, we have a lot of pick potential with Death Mark, Death Sentence, and I have Impale. Best case scenario, we can take two of them out of the fight immediately and then win from there. In the end, everything keeping the enemy in the game rested on Corki and when he finally went down the game ended.
As for Skarner himself, I definitely think the Crystaline Exoskeleton can't stay in its current form as you can see the damage I can shrug off. His Crystal Slash is not really that good anymore since it has absolutely no base damage, but depending on what Riot does with the Warrior, it might actually be salvageable. I'd say Skarner's greatest strength right now is just the versatility that he can bring to a team, which is what I imagine Riot will attack first. By the time they're done, there will be at best one viable build for the scorpion, which will pretty much remove most of the incentive to playing him.
