Here I show you what is new in Ubuntu 14.10 release of Linux desktop operating system.
Ubuntu 14.10, codenamed "Utopic Unicorn," was a version of the Ubuntu Linux distribution released in October 2014. It was a regular release and was supported for nine months until its end of life in July 2015. Ubuntu 14.10 featured the Unity desktop environment as its default user interface. Unity provided a modern and visually appealing desktop experience with features such as the Unity Dash, Launcher, and HUD (Head-Up Display) for accessing applications and system settings. Ubuntu 14.10 was based on the Linux 3.16 kernel, which provided support for new hardware components and improved performance and stability. It also included updated versions of system libraries, utilities, and core components, such as the GNOME libraries, Upstart init system, and X.org server. Ubuntu 14.10 used the Ubuntu Software Center as the default graphical package manager for installing, removing, and updating software packages. Additionally, users could use the command-line package manager (APT) or other graphical package managers available for the Ubuntu desktop environment. Ubuntu 14.10 had moderate system requirements, making it suitable for most modern computers. The system recommended at least 1GB of RAM, a 1GHz processor, and 10GB of available hard disk space for installation. However, users may have experienced better performance with more powerful hardware.
