Adrien Brochard demonstrates a different way to Emacs: combining Emacs and Linux as a virtualized IDE to work on any machine. It includes a collection of bash script that automates the build of a dev environment and a set of literate Emacs config files which takes care of replicating packages and settings. And if we're lucky all of this will build in less time than he needs to read through the code!
