SpaceX Will Land Humans On Moon with NASA Artemis Mission!

Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX, communicates by a Falcon 9 rocket
amid his statement that Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa will be launched on
a mission to travel around the moon on September 17, 2018. Lately, SpaceX has
also won a contract from NASA to land the space agency's astronauts on the moon
as part of the Artemis programme.

Very soon, SpaceX is planning a trip to the moon. Isn’t that amazing that NASA
has chosen Elon Musk's company SpaceX to develop a lunar lander that will carry
humans to the moon's surface in 2024.

But this comes with some curtailment, NASA will not place astronauts on Starship
until SpaceX has shown that it can land the spacecraft without it blowing up, not
just on Earth but also on the lunar surface in a test landing.
During NASA's announcement, Lisa Watson-Morgan, the programme manager for
the Human Landing System, stated, "We are not going to launch humans until we
have a successful test.

This contract is part of NASA's Artemis programme, which aims to land humans
on the moon for the first time since the final Apollo mission in 1972, including the
first woman and the first person of colour. If everything goes according to plan,
this could happen as early as 2024, according to NASA officials.
The space agency revealed that it has given SpaceX a $2.9 billion contract to build
a moon-landing variant of the Starship rocket. The futuristic-looking vehicle is still
in concept mode, with testing taking place in Texas.

So far, all four test flights have resulted in the prototype craft exploding
spectacularly. SpaceX beat out bids from Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, which has
worked with defence contractors Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and
Draper, and Dynetics, a Huntsville, Alabama-based defence contractor.NASA revealed that SpaceX would design the spacecraft that will land astronauts
on the lunar surface, marking a significant step forward in the agency's mission to
return humans to the moon. Artemis is the latest concept, which calls for astronauts
to launch on NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, travel to lunar orbit in
NASA's Orion space capsule, and the spacecraft would then be transferred to
SpaceX's Starship rocket for the final descent to Earth.

So, starting with, what exactly is the Starship from SpaceX?
Starship is a heavy-lift rocket that is currently being designed by SpaceX. A
230-foot-tall booster called Super Heavy and a 165-foot-tall upper stage called

Starship would make up the entire rocket. (The rocket's booster and upper stage are
collectively known as Starship.) The aim is to create a rocket that can launch and
land itself, which is a departure from previous launch vehicles. The Falcon 9
rocket, which NASA requires to carry astronauts to the International Space Station
(ISS), has a payload fairing that is motivated to accomplish this feat and can thus
be recycled.

The Super Heavy booster will help propel Starship off Earth and into lunar orbit,
where the upper part of the rocket will wait to ferry astronauts to the surface using
its own engines during moon missions.
And now Here's everything you need to know about NASA's ambitious Artemis

So, The Artemis programme, announced in 2017 and called in 2019, aims to return
American astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time since the Apollo 17
mission in 1972, as well as the first woman and person of colour to set foot on the
moon.The uncrewed Artemis I mission, which will launch in late 2021, will be an Orion
and SLS test flight.

Following Artemis I, Artemis II would use SLS and Orion to carry a crew around
the moon and back but not land, similar to the Apollo 8 launch in 1968. Artemis III
will then complete the trip to the moon's surface using NASA's SLS heavy-lift
rocket and SpaceX's Starship. Astronauts will ride the quarter-million miles to the
moon on NASA's SLS heavy-lift rocket and Orion deep-space spacecraft.
Following that, Orion is expected to drop anchor with a Human Landing System
(HLS), which is why NASA selected SpaceX's Starship. This spacecraft would
spend up to a hundred days in lunar orbit before trying to land the astronauts on the
surface
