SBA just announced yesterday, on June 15, that it will begin accepting new applications to get the $1,000 to $10,000 stimulus payments. These are cash grants as part of Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and EIDL Advance
EIDL stands for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan. This grant is designed to provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. This loan advance will not have to be repaid. Recipients do not have to be approved for a loan in order to receive the advance, but the amount of the loan advance will be deducted from total loan eligibility. The SBA disaster loans and grants include the following eligible claimants: independent contractors, Self employed, Freelancers, Sole proprietorships, Gig workers, businesses with less than 500 employees, Agricultural businesses, and you must have been in business as of January 31, 2020.
This is surprising news because under the CARES Act passed on March 27, 2020 people were eligible to receive the grant. Initially, $10 billion was allocated by the government for these grants, but due to the overwhelming amount of applications, the SBA suspended accepting new applications in mid-April 2020 due to a lapse in appropriations for the grants. As part of the interim bill the government added $60B ($50B in loans and $10B in grants). On May 4, the SBA opened back up this appellation but only to agriculture businesses but now it is open to everyone! As part of the interim bill the government added $60B ($50B in loans and $10B in grants)
This grant will provide up to $10,000 of economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing temporary difficulties. $1,000 per employee, meaning you need at least 10 employees to receive the full $10,000 advance. Anything else to help with the continuity of the business. You go to sba website and go to the eidl portion which I will link the down below. In order to make your application go through faster make sure you have all of your business information ready to apply when you go to the sba.gov website. Once your application goes through, you can receive your check in as soon as 3 days. Applicants who already submitted their applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
