Why your VRChat and Virtual Desktop are slow
In this video I will talk about the ways I optimize and speed up my VRChat and Virtual Desktop setup.
Cliffnotes:
Don’t run anything from the VD menus. Run from the desktop instead
Use highest framerate
If you use Quest 3 & good PC, use the AV1 codec - it compresses things better, less bandwith
Close background apps (cloud sync apps, adobe, discord)
Remove bloatware - if you use a laptop, remove the laptop’s “gaming” software like "OMEN Gaming Hub"; I suggest reinstalling a clean copy of Windows after buying a new laptop, but I don't say that in the video
Disable transparency effects
Performance options tweaks
Choose High performance mode at Control Panel\System and Security\Power Options
Resolution - Medium/high in VD, and the recommended resolution in SteamVR unless it is slow
Personal recommendation - StartAllBack, a paid app for Windows 11 that not only improves the Windows UI and UX, but also improves performance by reducing the amount of running WebUI copmponents on the system.
