Visual home inspection before buying an old house is not enough, unless the home owner or real estate broker representing the seller will provide complete information about the house be it existing issues or history of major repairs. Being aware of certain issues of the house can be used as a negotiating factor to lower the selling price. It would be very helpful if you have a home inspector with you to do the thorough inspections.
